Thank-you Bruce. Notice the subtext to web page: "building the creation model"
This subtext says it all. It indicates there is a per-conceived model, and we are going to look for evidence to support this model. In other words, if we find data that contradicts that model, we are going to ignore it.
Now, I am the first to admit that I do the same thing. We all do. But the issue for theology, do we really want to build our relationship with God on shifting sand?
What do I mean by this? It is nicely illustrated in the story: "Neutrinos to Audition for "The Universe has Talent" Competition," where a person of faith proposes to substantiate his faith in God on the speed of light. See http://www.explorethegap.net/ExploretheGapBlogPage.html
I see such posturing as not only not advisable but dangerous. Dangerous to our society because it builds a God that is limited. It creates a limited framework int which people of science can develop a worldview in which God plays a role. Posted by Lee |
